about

Rend. Asunder Minstrel's masterpiece. Easily our favorite song to perform (which is why we usually end with it), and a no brainer for being the opener of our EP. The beautiful and loving song has three movements. The verse/ buildup. The rapped verse. Halved again. The "halved, halved, and halved again" part is one of our favorite moments in the show. It's always been our last song, because it really feeds off the crowd. Rend is our longest song, and probably the truest Asunder sound. The song is about committing ourselves to God and to not let the external light of this world define and make us, but rather God's light make and form our life styles. To let go the problems of being a part of this world, but rather be an example of what God's Kingdom on earth can be. When Marshall came in to practice with the "halved again" part, we were all wondering why we didn't just put it on another song. But it fit really well in Rend, and it's always nice to go back into the rap verses after it. When Marshall said we're adding it on, I said "why?" Marshall responded, "Because it'll be awesome." Mene, Mene, Tekel, Upharsin. How this world tears a part me.
